No carnival experience is complete without playing mas (masquerade), and Spice Mas boasts some of the most creative and vibrant costumes in the Caribbean.

Many people come to Spice Mas JUST to experience the Jab.
Jab Jab bands are a quintessential part of Grenada’s J’ouvert celebrations, embodying the island’s rich cultural heritage. While specific band names may vary annually, several notable Jab Jab bands have been prominent in past Spice Mas events:
•Jab Nation J’ouvert Band: Known for their immersive Jab Jab experience during Spicemas.
•Carib Gold Jab J’ouvert Band: Associated with Carib Beer Grenada, this band has been active in J’ouvert festivities.
It’s important to note that many Jab Jab bands are community-based and may not have a significant online presence. These bands often organize at the village level, with groups forming organically within local communities. For the most accurate and up-to-date information on participating Jab Jab bands for Spice Mas 2025, it is advisable to contact the Spicemas Corporation directly or connect with local community centers upon arrival in Grenada.
The cost of SpiceMas
The cost of flights may vary, depending on the airport you will fly from. Depending on how late you book, you can see flights ranging up to $2000+. If you’re reading this blog, you’re already late. Getting to (and around) Grenada for Spice Mas
Grenada’s charm lies in its intimate size, making it easy to navigate and enjoy during carnival. Here’s how to plan your stay:
• Flights: Fly into Maurice Bishop International Airport (GND). Book flights 3-6 months in advance to lock in better rates. I honestly recommend you book no later than March.
• Accommodation: I recommend locations in St. George’s or Grand Anse. All of the road events will take place in Grand Anse. Finding accommodation for Spice Mas can be very difficult, and I recommend that you find something right away. I have been booked for Spice Mas 2025 since September last year.
