I first went to Hollywood Carnival in 2018 to celebrate my return from a 9-month long deployment to Kosovo. Aside from COVID, I have made it a point to attend each year.
Los Angeles, California is a melting pot, and Hollywood Carnival is a reflection of the city’s diversity. Its technically not a Caribbean Carnival, rather a cultural festival that ends with a parade representing countries from all over the world. Â
Don’t get it twisted, the Caribbean mas bands and fetes is what makes Hollywood Carnival worthwhile (note, that is my SUBJECTIVE opinion). It is a fantastic stateside carnival, ESPECIALLY if you are a newbie. Here is everything you need to know to start planning your trip.

Hollywood Carnival band launch
Los Angeles Culture Fest will likely host its band launch at the Globe Theatre in Los Angeles sometime in late February or March. Be sure to check back frequently for updates. Click here to follow Hollywood Carnival’s instagram page.
Where to stay in Los Angeles
I personally prioritize hotels that are close to the parade, and not the parties. My absolute favorite hotel is the Intercontinental Los Angeles Downtown. It is about a 10 minute drive to the parade route (with consideration to LA traffic). This hotel boasts the highest bar on the western hemisphere, and amenities that will keep you coming back, to include three restaurants and pool. Â
The parade route begins on Normandie Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard, ending at Highland avenue.
